I didn’t see this Friday press conference but … for what it’s worth, he apparently read from his script and …Bush went on to say that the operatives of the planned attacks were instructed in the placement of explosives. Adding, as though it’s the clearest thing in the world, that Khalid disclosed the explosives were to detonate at “a point high enough to prevent people trapped above from escaping.”

Secret Agent Man

There’s a man who leads a life of danger
To everyone he meets he stays a stranger

Parsing the statements of George Bush is of course handicapped by the man’s uncommon illiteracy, though when he sticks to his prepared texts we can get some indication of what his keepers want us to hear, even if Bush himself doesn’t know what he’s saying. Take, for one bizarre instance, the opening remarks to his Rose Garden news conference last Friday.

In defence of torture and secret prisons he boasted of the “valuable information” obtained by the CIA from waterboarding “men like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed” (whose telephone conversations with Mohammed Atta, including final approval for the attacks on September 10, are known to have been monitored and translated by the NSA, but apparently not acted upon).

But back to Bush and his Friday remarks:

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed described the design of planned attacks of buildings inside the U.S. and how operatives were directed to carry them out. That is valuable information for those of us who have the responsibility to protect the American people. He told us the operatives had been instructed to ensure that the explosives went off at a high — a point that was high enough to prevent people trapped above from escaping.

Even allowing for the bell curve of his usual nonsense, what sense does this make?

The Guardian transcript has Bush saying that Khalid “described the design of plane attacks,” rather than the official “planned attacks.” The video, available from the White House website, confirms “planned.” Perhaps the Guardian couldn’t quite believe what it was hearing. Because Bush went on to say that the operatives of the planned attacks were instructed in the placement of explosives. Adding, as though it’s the clearest thing in the world, that Khalid disclosed the explosives were to detonate at “a point high enough to prevent people trapped above from escaping.”

Before we rush to judgement, believing Bush is letting it slip that the towers were demolished, watch the video. Bush isn’t riffing here; he isn’t straying from the prepared text. His remarks were crafted with care. So why would he be given such lines, which could so easily be construed by 9/11 skeptics as an inadvertant admission of controlled demolition? Perhaps because, as I believe was Rumsfeld’s intention when he “misspoke” of a “missile” striking the Pentagon the very week Thierry Meyssan launched his “no plane” website, that’s precisely where they want our attention, whether or not demolition is a fact. (And it will only be our attention, as the corporate press either don’t have the ears or the stomach for it.)

So here’s the scene: the White House invoking invisible man Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to excite our imagination with an oddly-worded statement strongly suggestive of demolition, when our attention would be better rewarded by considering Khalid himself, his service to the ISI and the ISI’s service to US intelligence. But Bush will never be written the words to encourage such thoughts.

Northwoods and the Pentagon Strike meme

I often have used reference to the Northwoods docs as my entre to telling folks about 911 as Inside Job. However, I too have had my skeptical side piqued by the possibility that it could be purposeful mis/disinfo.I first heard about it via Bamford’s supposedly being tipped off to its existence by a friend and then his story of finding it in the archives.But as far as I know the only person to have written about it possibly being disinfo is Carol A. Valentine:

Not trying to hijack this thread but thought I’d answer my own question RE: Rumsfeld and Myssan’s Missile Theory originating in the same week:”It was first floated in early October 2001 by French author Thierry Meyssan and US War Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Monsieur Meyssan started a webpage that suggested a plane did not hit the Pentagon on October 7, and Rumsfeld gave an interview to Parade magazine on October 12 where he said a “missile” hit the Pentagon.”

Discovery of directed 9/11 dialectic

    Recent research reveals the WTC “controlled demolition” debate has been a constructed Hegelian dialectic since no later than 9/12 2001. For it was on that day that one Van Romero, of New Mexico Tech, announced in the local Albuquerque Journal that the Twin Towers were obviously taken out by a conventional controlled demolition. Romero quickly and quietly retracted his claim and disappeared from the scene. What was not revealed until now however, is that Romero is a major player in directed-energy weaponry, and a long time member of the Directed-Energy Professional Society (See 911researchers.com). By planting the “controlled demolition” meme, Romero took eyes away from exotic and specifically directed-energy weapons’ role in the destruction of the World Trade Center Complex.How serendipitious, then, that Romero should also resurface this very weekend on the Discovery Channel of all places. Romero received special thanks for, and his Department presided over, something called “Conspiracy Test” — an examination of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

    As OKBOMB is increasingly understood as 9/11 writ small, cursory reexamination yields the telltale signs of directed-energy weapons there too — the powderized concrete, cylindrical cut-out patterned damage, and even scorch marks left on the roof by the earlier prototype of the weapon. Romero’s constructed dialectic eschewed such anomalies however, restricting the acceptable frame of debate to truck-bomb vs column-bomb.

    So it should be little surprise then that even as Romero’s documentary premiered on Discovery, Discovery cameras were in Austin, Texas to tape a purportedly scientific presentation hewing to a similarly circumscribed 9/11 debate. For, as a result of an elaborate and targeted psychological operation aimed at leaders of the “patriot” community in the Austin area, the leading “scientific” figure speaking at the University of Texas conference came from the same 33o exo-weaponry milieu as Romero.

    Thus, any presentation by Discovery will be similarly restricted, between the ridiculous official theory(/ies) and the equally ludicrous “superthermate” theory. Such false opposition keeps activists’ heads spinning on an untraceable thermite goose chase rather than agitating for grand-jury investigations of institutions such as Raytheon, Applied Research Associates, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and others whose weaponry can be tied to the utter devastation of World Trade Center.

    A possible silver lining over Texas: secrecy-gagged panelist Col. Dr. Bob Bowman valiantly tried to warn on the Austin-based nationally-syndicated Deadline Live radio program Friday that “Star Wars” is offensive weaponry designed to take out targets such as buildings from space-based platforms, sewing confusion in doing so.

Not just the people living in New York City or in Washington D.C., but many millions of people all across the country felt they were potential targets, especially those living in other large cities. The local, state, and federal responses were immediate and massive amounts of resources were deployed to the attack sites. Initially, it was estimated that the casualties in the World Trade Center could be around 10,000 and 800 people were estimated to be dead in the Pentagon incident. Sadly, the initial firefighting teams, including the New York City fire chief, deployed to the scene were among the dead and missing. The loss of about 300 skilled firefighters and their chief was a major blow to the response force.
