This literature outline represents a tentative attempt to make a broad sweep of the literature on 9/11 (September 11, 2001) that has been published and/or posted online over the last three years. It gathers together in one place the pertinent publishing information for authors and works of many political persuasions that appear to be worthy of due consideration by 9/11 researchers. The outline focuses almost exclusively on books, while including a number of exceptional articles. While comprehensive, the outline is certainly not conclusive; it is intended to serve as a founding initiative only. In most cases works have been categorized with confidence, though in some instances only an educated guess as to the full contents and implications of a work has governed the categorization process.

Works have been separated into general categories:

1) Government Publications, in this case, by different branches of the US government;

2) Extra-Governmental Literature, such as works published by former government figures (ex., Zbigniew Brzezinski), by those known to have privileged access to government and intelligence circles (ex. Bill Gertz), and by think tanks linked in a fairly direct way to the US Government (ex., RAND Corporation).

4) Mainstream Literature based on the Official 9/11 Narrative. This category refers to works published for a broad audience by publishers whose authors and audiences generally hold to liberal or conservative world views. These writers accept the assumptions of the official 9/11 narrative: that the attacks took the United States by surprise or were successful because the United States experienced a massive ‘intelligence failure,’ and that any argument opposed to the fundamental assumptions and implications of the ’surprise’ and/or ‘intelligence failure’ narratives must be dismissed automatically as a ‘conspiracy theory.’

3) Academic Literature refers to works published in a small selection of leading historical and political scholarly journals that - with one known exception - accept as beyond dispute the assumptions of the official 9/11 narrative noted above in (4). Leading works on the idea of “conspiracy” and “conspiracy theory” are included in this section.

5) Critical Literature based on the Official 9/11 Narrative. This category refers to works published for a more selective target audience, usually of a Left or Libertarian political persuasion, that fall outside the Academic Literature designation. While these writers accept the official 9/11 narrative as their starting point, many–if not most–are openly critical of the intelligence world and the response of the United States government to the 9/11 attacks. This is particularly true for Post-9/11 foreign policy (the ‘War on Terror’ and the so-called ‘Bush Doctrine’ of pre-emptive warfare).

6) 9/11 Skeptic and 9/11 Complicity Counter-Narrative Literature. Works gathered under this category heading are those authored by 9/11 Skeptics, who attempt primarily to show that the official 9/11 narrative is false (example, malcontentx), or they are authored by 9/11 Complicity Counter-Narrative advocates (example Michael C. Ruppert), who establish first that the official 9/11 narrative is false and proceed to develop alternative explanations and hypotheses to explain aspects of 9/11.

Often a degree of US Government complicity in the 9/11 attacks is demonstrated or strongly suggested, ranging from the LIHOP hypothesis (Let It Happen On Purpose - that the US government had adequate foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks and allowed then to proceed for political gain), to what might be called ‘The Big Lie’ hypothesis: that 9/11 was a US government operation and that bin Laden and the hijackers were either patsies or infiltrated by double agents.

Evidence supporting the so-called ‘Big Lie’ hypothesis is much stronger than most assume. I have also included a handful of Grand Conspiracy Narratives in this section, which posit the existence of the ‘Illuminati,’ of an elite global conspiracy to institute a ‘Prison Planet,’ or that highlight secret societies like the Skull & Bones.

In forwarding this list, it is my hope that 9/11 researchers from across the political spectrum will be further encouraged and empowered to cross-examine evidence and arguments forwarded by those with alternate or or even ulterior agendas, whose work might otherwise be ignored.

Listings are alphabetical. At the end of each page, the alphabetized listings on the right hand page (if they have not ended) continue in the left hand column of the next page.

In February of 1998, Booze Allen Hamilton was under contract with the United States Government to help federal officials comply with Executive Order 12958. The order was intended to facilitate the declassification of federal information. It “set in motion a five year time limit (April 1995 - April 2000) within which all classified information more than 25 years old and judged to be of permanent historical value shall be reviewed for declassification and declassified unless it meets certain definitive exemption criteria. All material not meeting the exemption criteria will be automatically declassified-whether or not the records have been reviewed” (1).

On February 13, 1998, Booz Allen Hamilton completed a document titled “Operations Security Impact on Declassification Management Within the Department of Defense.” This report(2)can be read online at: www.fas.org/sgp/othergov/dod_opsec.html It made a number of declassification recommendations after its authors reviewed relevant archived materials, spoke with archival staff and interviewed three key individuals: Jean Schauble, the Director of the Records Declassification Division at the National Archives And Records Administration; LTC Gary Moore, the Operations Officer of the U.S. Army Declassification Activity; and “one interviewee from the Defense Intelligence Agency [name DELETED].”

Consider the following 1998 document when thinking about the release of information by our (and other) governments:

“The use of the Internet could reduce the unrestrained public appetite for “secrets” by providing good faith distraction material”

“A strategy could then be devised by DoD and the components, based upon this evaluation, to implement a coherent and complimentary plan to achieve the declassification goals. For example:

=> Diversion: List of interesting declassified material - i.e. Kennedy assassination data.”

The Majestic Game, Interactive Media Environments, and a New Turing Test: Blurring the Boundaries Between Virtual and Real
Damian Ward Hey

There is something potentially more disturbing going on here than the participation in a murder mystery in which you get e-mailed by a simulated murderer or voice-mailed by a screaming, simulated soon-to-be victim. There is the looming threat of Baudrillardian hyperrealism.

Howard Rheingold comments that “hyper-realists see the use of communications technologies as a route to the total replacement of the natural world” and that:

The most radical of the hyper-realist political critics charge that the wonders of communications technology skillfully camouflage the disappearance and subtle replacement of true democracy — and everything else that used to be authentic, from nature to human relationships, — with a simulated, commercial version. …

Why torture people [political dissidents, or other ‘trouble-makers’] when you can get them to pay for access to electronic mind-control? (Rheingold, 2000, pp. 317-318)

The danger that alarmists fear is that the simulation will become socially and politically more “real” than real life situations whose contexts are buoyed by actual socially overdetermining economic, political, religious, etc., institutions. People will then begin reacting more en masse to the inconsequential world of simulation than to the real world. When this happens, the argument goes, one of two things, and possibly both, will occur: 1). The economy and socio-political structure of our society will collapse because people are producing in simulated situations rather than “actual” ones and/or 2) The wily hegemony of our society will further the narrative and blur the ability to distinguish between reality and simulation, whereby, as seen in the Rheingold passage, “electronic mind-control” will be exerted by the same hegemony over the hapless worker-inhabitants of simulated realms.

China’s Chen Guangcheng, this year’s Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Emergent Leadership and whose image is projected on the screen receives an applause from his co-awardees and the audience Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, in Manila, Philippines, as he was unable to attend because he is currently serving a prison term. The wife of the blind Chinese activist denounced China for its human rights record and for being prevented from leaving the country to receive the Philippine humanitarian award for her husband. Wife of Chinese Activist: I Was Held

BEIJING (AP) — The wife of an imprisoned blind Chinese activist said Saturday that she was dragged off a bus and held for hours to stop her from traveling to Beijing to speak out on his behalf.

Yuan Weijing said she was on a bus from Shandong province in eastern China on Friday when it stopped and she was pulled off by a group of government workers.

The alleged action comes after Yuan was blocked last week by Chinese authorities from leaving for Manila, Philippines, where she was to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award, Asia’s version of the Nobel Prize, for her husband, Chen Guangcheng. Friday was also the day a speech by her was read at the awards ceremony, in which she accused Beijing of violating human rights.

Chen, 36, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison in 2006 after he documented cases of forced abortions and other abuses by family planning officials in his native Shandong.

“I think the purpose of this was to prohibit me from speaking out,” Yuan said by phone from her village of Dongshigu in Shangdong. “Three men and one woman got on the bus and they dragged me to get me off the bus.”

She said she was going to Beijing to highlight her husband’s case and to seek legal help after her passport was taken away when she was trying to go to the Philippines.

Yuan said she was held for about 12 hours and taken back to her house in a mini-bus. She did not give details, but said she recognized those who dragged her off the bus as being from her local government office.

Yuan, 31, was taken back to her home early Saturday, and she said about six people were standing in front of her house and that another four were blocking the entrance to the village.

A duty officer at the Shandong police office, who refused to give his name, said he had not heard of the case.

In Yuan’s speech read at the awards ceremony, she blasted China’s record on human rights.

“In China, our government is often the biggest violator of people’s rights,” Yuan said in the speech. “Because Guangcheng engaged in helping peasants safeguard their rights, he became the target of a retaliatory strike by some corrupt government officials.”

Chen was convicted on charges of instigating an attack on government offices in Dongshigu. Police said he was upset with workers sent to carry out poverty-relief programs.

Yuan said her husband was convicted “based on trumped-up charges and a flawed trial process” in which villagers allegedly were kidnapped and tortured to testify against him.

Chen and a fellow Chinese citizen jointly won the Magsaysay emergent leadership award. Chen, blinded by a fever as a child, helped farmers file court cases, led protests against a river-polluting paper factory and documented abuses.

Chung was recognized for his AIDS Orphans Project, which provides school fees for children who have a parent with AIDS.

Each winner received a gold medallion with an image of the former Philippine president for which the award is named plus $50,000.

Astroturfing

Astroturfing is a term for formal public relations campaigns in politics and advertising that seek to create the impression of being spontaneous, grassroots behavior. Hence the reference to AstroTurf (artificial grass) is a metaphor to indicate fake grassroots support.

The goal of such a campaign is to disguise the agenda of a client as an independent public reaction to some political entity—a politician, political group, product, service or event. Astroturfers attempt to orchestrate the actions of apparently diverse and geographically distributed individuals, by both overt (”outreach,” “awareness,” etc.) and covert (disinformation) means. Astroturfing may be undertaken by anything from an individual pushing their own personal agenda through to highly organized professional groups with financial backing from large corporations, non-profits, or activist organizations.

After a strange devolution of the BFN (BreakForNews.com forums) some interesting information emerges allegedly linking Fintan Dunne’s apparent investigation of BFN User “navari” (whose catchphrase is “Full Spectrum Liberty”) and his apparent founding of ESI (Election Science Institute) and RonPaulOnline.com … as exposed by BFN User “obeylittle”.

Fintan Dunne:

Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:31 pm - So the Op is blown, and a bit earlier than I would have preffered, but no prob. As usual we learn a lot about the 2004 election and by inference about the role of Ron Paul, and via the pathocrat material also tells us about www.cassiopaea.org (as if we didn’t know). It was Cassiopaea, which launched the “Pentagon Strike” diversion on us, btw.

… and …

Mon Aug 13, 2007 12:15 am - Well, Navari founded the election Science Institute which played a key rolein dismissing legitimate questioning of the theft of the Ohio election by Bush et. al in 2004.Then he creates RonPaulOnline.com to suport the candidacy of Ron Paul. So, is the Ron Paul presidential bid a real threat to the establishment, or is it a calculated diversion which they encourage because they have it all well covered? Guess? Does this mean that Ron Paul is a stooge for the NWO? Maybe, but you can decide if he is just being used.Ah well. I’m glad I got a chance to interview him anyway, about the vital need for reform of the FDA and of medicine, but it’s disappointing to see that these ideas and the hope of getting the government off our backs are unlikely to lead anywhere.’Cos if there was a real threat of these ideas actually geting anywhere, then I don’t think Navari would be giving the campaign a handout.
